Synopsis
Thirty years has passed since the appearance of Burnish, a race of flame-wielding mutant beings, who destroyed half of the world with fire. When a new group of aggressive mutants calling themselves “Mad Burnish” appears, the epic battle between Galo Thymos, a new member of the anti-Burnish rescue team “Burning Rescue,” and Lio Fotia, the leader of “Mad Burnish” begins.

I think it’s a great week on the home market for a few reasons, one of which is selfish. Amazon finally got its act together and upcoming releases are appearing on the site so I can pre-plan weeks, which makes my job easier. It also is making my wallet very scared, because there are a number of amazing releases coming out soon. This includes several new releases this week that are worth picking up like Buffaloed, Emma., Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, etc. and those aren’t even the contenders for Pick of the Week. That list is limited to The Good Place: The Complete Series Blu-ray and The Quintessential Quintuplets: Season 1. In the end I went with The Good Place, which I think will have a wider appeal.

It’s a much slower week for digital releases, with no major first-run releases to talk about. That said, there are some previous theatrical releases that are making it to digital this week, including Promare. This movie was a monster hit for an anime release late last year, so it could be the biggest release on this week’s chart. That said, anime fans will probably want to buy it on Blu-ray.

First Love was the only film in the $10,000 Club this weekend earning an average of $10,576 in two theaters.

The $10,000 Club didn’t have many members this week and none of them were really able to shine. Where’s My Roy Cohn? did the best with an average of $10,591 in four theaters. Meanwhile the overall number one film, Downton Abbey, was close behind with an average of $10,079.

Most of the positively reviewed films on this week’s list are documentaries, including Midnight Traveler, which could find a receptive audience on the art house circuit. On the other hand, Promare is the film I’m most interested in seeing.
