Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

In its second weekend, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice continued to dominate at the box office, earning an impressive $51.4m for a 10-day domestic total of $187.76m. With several notable new releases on the horizon, the question remains: can Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hold onto the top spot, or will Transformers One take the crown?

Transformers One is the widest new release this weekend, debuting in 3,978 theaters. This film marks the first animated feature in the Transformers franchise to be released in theaters, and is directed by Josh Cooley, best known for Toy Story 4. The film dives into the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, exploring their complex relationship as former allies turned enemies, who ultimately changed the fate of Cybertron. Featuring an all-star voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm, the film brings these legendary characters to life.

Also opening wide this weekend is the survival horror thriller Never Let Go, starring Halle Berry and directed by Alexandre Aja. Debuting in 2,667 theaters, the film follows a mother and her twin sons as they struggle to survive in a world overtaken by evil beyond their front doorstep. Bound to their home with ropes, they must stay connected at all times, urging each other to never let go. When one of the boys questions the reality of this evil, their fight for survival becomes even more harrowing.

Making its debut in about 1,500 venues this weekend is the body horror The Substance. Starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and Dennis Quaid and directed by Coralie Fargeat, the film follows a fading celebrity who uses a black-market drug, a cell-replicating substance, to temporarily create a younger, more enhanced version of herself. We will update the final theater count as it becomes available.

Rounding out the top five for the third weekend in a row, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice holds the title of widest release, playing in 4,172 cinemas. Occupying the second-place spot is Transformers One opening in 3,978 theaters. Holding out in 3,375 locations is Speak No Evil in third. Another newcomer, Never Let Go, debuting in 2,667 theaters, fills the fourth spot, while The Killer’s Game rounds out the top five, playing in 2,623 venues.

Looking ahead to next weekend, several wide releases are set to hit theaters, including Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, estimated to open in 1,550 theaters. Other films joining the lineup include Bagman, The Wild Robot, Lee, My Old Ass, and Azrael. We will update the theater counts as they become available.
