International Box Office: Endgame Already Cracks $300 million
April 26, 2019
Avengers: Endgame hasn’t even debuted in every international market it will be playing in this weekend, but that hasn’t stopped it from earning $305 million internationally in just two days, according to Disney’s Friday morning update. To put this into perspective, that’s more than four installments in the MCU managed in total. The list of new markets includes the U.K., where it earned $15.3 million, which is not only the biggest single day in that market, but it is also 86% more than Infinity War’s opening day. It wasn’t quite as potent in Brazil, as its $7.0 million opening day was a mere 67% more than Infinity War, but it also set the new record for biggest single day in that market.
China led the way as far as holdovers were concerned with $47.0 million on Thursday for a two-day opening of $154.5 million. The film was down just 3% in Australia thanks to holidays, earning $6.9 million on Thursday, for a two-day total of $13.9 million. It had a more reasonable hold in South Korea with $6.2 million on Thursday for a running tally of $14.6 million. The film has already reached $10.4 million in Italy and isn’t too far behind in Germany ($9.7 million) and France ($9.6 million).
On Friday, Endgame will open in Mexico, Spain, India, and Japan, as well as other smaller markets. It ends its international run with a debut in Russia on Monday.
On IMAX, Disney reports Endgame has set IMAX opening day records in 38 markets already, including China, France, Germany, Taiwan, Brazil and Argentina, with $33 million IMAX box office globally to date. In China, it has posted $21 million IMAX in the first two days, already beating the 3-day opening weekend record held by Infinity War ($20.3 million).
