June 5, 2018
Deadpool 2 returned to first place with $41.6 million in 79 markets for totals of $344.00 million internationally and $598.51 million worldwide. It opened in first place in Japan with $5.5 million, which is close to 30% better than the original managed in its opening there.
Solo: A Star Wars Story was second with $30.3 million in 54 markets for totals of $115.3 million internationally and $264.3 million worldwide. The film had no major market openings and it has yet to debut in Japan, so it should be able to get to $400 million worldwide. Avengers: Infinity War was right behind with $24.3 million in 54 markets for totals of $1.322 billion internationally and $1.965 billion worldwide. The film’s biggest market is China, where it has earned $356.2 million after four weeks of release.
