International Box Office: The Maze Runner is on a Marathon Pace with $35.5 million

Maze Runner: The Death Cure remained in first place with $35.5 million in 80 markets for totals of $143.2 million internationally and $183.2 million worldwide. The film’s biggest new market was Mexico, where it earned first place with $3.20 million. Its best market overall was China, where it added $5.17 million over the weekend to its running tally, which now sits at $38.67 million.
The Greatest Showman returned to the top five in second place with $16.2 million in 42 markets for totals of $153.1 million internationally and $290.5 million worldwide. This weekend, it opened in China, where it earned third place with $5.46 million over the weekend for a total opening of $7.69 million. The film’s best holdover was the U.K., where it earned fifth place with $2.9 million over the weekend for a total of $31.3 million after six weeks of release. This is even better than its run here.
Les Tuche 3 debuted in third place internationally and first place in its native France with $14.3 million.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle slipped a spot to fourth place with $12.59 million in 83 markets for totals of $505.13 million internationally and $857.70 million worldwide. The film’s only new market was Belgium, where it opened with $1.95 million in 134 theaters, including previews.
Coco rounded out the top five with $11.6 million in 35 markets for totals of $496.3 million internationally and $700.9 million worldwide. It is the 14th film released in 2017 to hit $700 million worldwide.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi added another $2.8 million in 28 markets for an international total of $706.0 million, putting it in 24th place on the all-time chart. That will very likely be the last milestone for the movie.
