Theater Averages: The Post Posts Top Marks with average of $58,446 / $84,673

The Post dominated the Christmas weekend, earning an average of $58,446 in nine theaters, $84,673 if you include Christmas Day. The second best result of the four-day weekend was Phantom Thread, which earned an average of $31,818 in four theaters on Christmas Day alone. Last week’s winner, The Last Jedi, earned an average of $16,911 during its second weekend of release. The final two films in the $10,000 club were I, Tonya and Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds with averages of $11,169 and $10,914 respectively.
There were plenty of other new limited releases, but because of Christmas, we only have numbers for two of them. Hostiles earned an average of $7,616 in three theaters over the weekend, $10,818 if you include Christmas Day. Meanwhile, Molly’s Game earned an average of $3,845 in 271 theaters on Christmas day alone.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
There were very likely other milestones, as both Loving Vincent and Call Me by Your Name were very close at the end of last weekend. However, we haven’t gotten official numbers from their respective studios yet. We will have to play catch up once the holidays are over.
