Theater Averages: Human Flows to the Top with $15,226
October 18, 2017
Human Flow earned first place on the theater average chart with an average of $15,226 in three theaters. The only other film in the $10,000 club was last week’s winner, The Florida Project, with an average of $11,156 in 33 theaters.
There were a trio of new limited releases that did well. The rest struggled. Breathe topped this list with an average of $6,564 in four theaters, while Goodbye Christopher Robin was right behind with an average of $6,435 in nine theaters. The Departure did well for a documentary with $5,684 in one theater. Another documentary, 78/52: Hitchcocks Shower Scene, was also playing in one theater and it earned $3,738. American Satan was playing in 55 theaters, but it struggled with an average of $2,400. Wasted! The Story of Food Waste missed the Mendoza Line with an average of just $1,563 in 11 theaters. It was playing on Video on Demand, so its box office numbers are not important. On the other hand, Bad Luck Goat has no excuses. It opened with $170 in 3 theaters for an average of $57. That’s not the worst theater average we’ve seen, as The Worst Movie EVER! earned an average of $11 during its opening weekend.
