Theater Averages: Gook Does Good with $13,522
August 23, 2017
It was a shallow week on the theater average chart with only three films with averages above $10,000 and none that topped that mark by a serious margin. Gook topped the chart with an average of $13,522 in two theaters. Ingrid Goes West is arguably more impressive, as it earned an average of $10,284 in 26 theaters during its second weekend of release. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Crown Heights with an average of $10,058 in three theaters.
None of the rest of the new limited release came that close to the $10,000 mark. Sidemen: Long Road to Glory came the closest with $6,120 in its lone theater, which is good for a documentary. Patti Cake$ and The Adventurers had nearly identical openings. The former earned $67,599 in 14 theaters for an average of $4,829. Meanwhile, the latter opened with $68,614 in 17 theaters for an average of $4,036. Marjorie Prime was next with an average of $3,445 in six theaters. Lemon earned an average of $2,979 in two theaters. Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry had an odd opening debuting on Monday. It earned an average of just $579 in 292 theaters over the weekend, but its seven-day total of over $500,000 is more impressive.
