Limited Releases to the Rescue
January 30, 2004
This is a perfect weekend to check out a limited release. With no wide release getting anywhere near overall positive reviews, there should be something for you to check out if you live in New York or L.A. that is. If you don't live in those two cities, check out one of several limited releases that saw expansions in their theatre counts due to Golden Globe wins or Oscar Nominations.
Eat This New York - Reviews
A documentary about a restaurant opening in New York. Poor reviews and at least two reality TV series with the same basic premise will hurt this films chances.
Fighting Fish - No Reviews
It's a Dutch Kung-Fu movie. What more do you need to know before you'll check this film out? Ok, since you asked, here's the official site. Now check your local listings to see if it's playing in a theatre near you.
Latter Days - Reviews
Originally set to open in New York, L.A. and Utah, its subject matter of homosexuality and the Mormons proved a little too hot for the Salt Lake City theatres to handle.
On the Run - Reviews
This is daring, a movie trilogy with the same actors playing the same characters. The catch, each movie is a completely difference genre. This week the thriller is released followed by the romantic comedy next week and then a drama the week after.
