Movie Website Updates for May 6 - May 12, 2007

Not the best week for sites as there was only one that had even a chance of winning, Surf's Up - Official Site. There were a couple others that showed potential, but they will need a little more work to win.

I'm going to start with a pet peeve. I hate sites where I can't tell what movie they are advertising by the URL alone. It makes me think this is just a placeholder site on the studios main site and the real site is somewhere else. Maybe the film has a URL like that which redirects here, but I'm not going to search for it beyond typing in 28weekslater.com and seeing where it takes me. As for the site, it is well done with all of the usual features needed, as well as enough sound and animation to keep the surfer's attention. Not quite award-worthy, but better than most.
Just an average site with all the usual features, (and a couple clips), but there's nothing here that sets it apart.
The usual information is here, but there's not a lot of style. This is a real shame since the film is so inventive.
Good amount of information on both the subject of the documentary and the filmmakers, but no real style.
The usual information for a documentary site, but not a whole lot in terms of style.
Nothing. But it's more than a year till it opens, so that's no big surprise.
There's a new look and most of the regular features were added. (The bios are still MIA.)
Nothing new in a while. And nothing that makes me want to watch the movie.
All the usual features are here, but the highlight are the videos. Not only are there several clips from the movie, but a three-part interview with the director.
The video section was added to the site and it includes the trailer, a clip from the movie, and a clip from Sundance.
No official site at the moment, but the trailer can be found here.
Nothing new on the site, but there are some outtakes online.
There's a new look to the site and all of the usual features were added, (minus the bios). There's also a new trailer, which sell the film better than the earlier ones. (Seeing Michael Chiklis do the "flame on" finger flick was great.)
The rest of the regular features were added to the site. I'd still like to see more style here, maybe even a game, (perhaps a target practice game), before I'd be truly happy. Right now, except for that fabulous trailer, it just doesn't stand out.
A whole lot of extra clips were added to the site, some of which were also featured in the transitions between sections. Overall the site is solid, but unspectacular.
Just the synopsis and the trailer so far. But it does have a new release date for here. It's opening in the middle of September. No real surprise there.
Big week for documentaries at the theaters means a big week for their sites here. This one has more style than most of its contemporaries with some great background music, but not enough to stand out.
No real changes in a long, long time.
The full site is up and all of the regular features are here. There's also a section where you can put yourself up for auction and / or bid on other people.
The edit bay finally loaded for me, and you need a valid US driver's license to view the content. ARG! There's also a section where you can upload you photo and see what it would look like if your mated with one of the cast.
All the usual features are here, with more style than most sites on this week's list. However, I had problems with a couple of them. The format of the image gallery, for instance, meant leaving the site to look at each picture.
New site this week, and it has all of the usual features. (There are limited filmographies instead of bios.) The style adds a little to the overall site, but not enough to make it stand out.
Just the very basics, (with no bios to be seen). There's just not enough here to sell the film.
There's a lot of information here, a lot, but little in the way of style. Still, this is common for documentary sites, but given the subject of the documentary I was expecting more.
On the one hand, there was barely anything added to the site this week, just another game. And there are some features still marked coming soon like the clips. However, this is still the best site on this week's list. The site has all of the usual features including synopsis, character bios, image gallery, and trailers. It also has four games now, activities like design your own surfboard, soundboard, etc. There's even an interactive map with Mikey, who has an instantly grating voice. There could be a bit more sound and animation on the site, but that's not enough to keep the site from winning the Off the Richter Weekly Website Award.
Just the trailer so far. Also, apparently the movie is called Wedding Daze and not The Pleasure of Your Company.
Just the trailer so far, but it is more effective than I thought it would be.
