Falling to First Place on the Per Theater Charts
April 3, 2007
Journey from the Fall led the per theater charts this weekend with $99,080 in 6 theaters for an average of $16,513; its average fell less than 25% despite playing in 50% more theaters.
The only other film to top $10,000 was Killer of Sheep which earned $26,154 in 2 theaters during its re-release for an average of $13,077.
After the Wedding just missed that mark with $9,462 in five theaters, but it was the only other new release to come close.
Ten Till Noon was the best of the rest with just $2,520 in its lone theater.
Live Free of Die was well back with just $1,775.
Both Race You to the Bottom and The Hawk is Dying were unable to find audiences, earning $1,549 and $1,042 in each of their single theaters.
There was only one milestone this week as The Namesake reached $3 million midweek and $4 million over the weekend.
It has already surpassed the total of The Rise of Taj, one of Kal Penn's previous films, and should reach $5 million very shortly with $10 million well within reach.
