Award Season - Swinging Away

The PGA announced their nominations today, two of which deal with theatrical releases.

The Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures

• Babel
• The Departed
• Dreamgirls
• Little Miss Sunshine
• The Queen

• Cars
• Flushed Away
• Happy Feet
• Ice Age: The Meltdown
• Monster House

• Bleak House
• Elizabeth I
• Flight 93
• High School Musical
• Mrs. Harris

• Every single film in the Best Motion Picture category earned a Golden Globe nomination, so there's no real surprise there.
• The closest there was to a surprise was Little Miss Sunshine; that's not to say the film didn't deserve the nomination, it's just that comedies generally don't earn the respect that dramas do.
• Ice Age: The Meltdown was better than Over the Hedge? I didn't think so. Neither did most critics, but Over the Hedge keeps getting passed over for nominations.
