Per Theater Chart: Last Lions Opens in First Place
February 23, 2011
There were a pair of $10,000 films on the per theater chart this week, led by The Last Lions with an average of $13,336 in four theaters. I Am was relatively close behind with $10,500 in one theater.
There were a couple of other new limited releases that did well. Brotherhood opened with $7,873 in one theater, while Even the Rain took in an average of $6,716 in its eight theaters. On the other hand, Vanishing on Seventh Street struggled with just $2,898 in one theater. Saat Khoon Maaf's average was $2,525, but it was playing in dozens of theaters, so that was a mitigating factor. The Chaperone was also playing in more than a few theaters, but that's not enough to compensate for an average of $1,270 in ten. Genesis Code was even weaker with an average of $1,088, but it was playing in 17 theaters. Finally, Immigration Tango opened with $14,432, but that was in 30 theaters for an average of just $481.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
