Per Theater Chart: Rapids Crosses Finish Line First
February 15, 2011
Strong reviews and an impressive cast helped Cedar Rapids top the per theater chart with an average of $20,198 in 15 theaters. Vidal Sassoon: The Movie was the only other film to reach an average of $10,000 with $13,053 in its lone theater.
Of the rest of the new limited releases, Orgasm Inc. did the best with $8,773 in one theater, while Certifiably Jonathan also did well with $7,826, again in one theater. Poetry earned an average of $6,300 in three theaters. Next up were a trio of limited releases, which were tightly packed together. Raymond Did It, which cost $40,000 to make, earned $3,192 in a single theater over the weekend. 2011 Oscar Shorts opened with just over $300,000 in just under 100 theaters for an average of $3,165. This is the best total opening in the franchise so far. Carancho was right behind, and I mean right behind, with an average of $3,162. If it sold just two, maybe three tickets more it would have overtaken 2011 Oscar Shorts' average.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Charts alumni:
