Per Theater Chart: Lovely and Strange
September 3, 2014
The Last of Robin Hood led the way on the Per Theater Chart with an average of $17,709 in two theaters. Through a Lens Darkly was the only other member of the $10,000 club with $11,764 in its lone theater. This is more impressive, because it opened on Wednesday.
Of the rest of the new limited releases, only two did well. Cantinflas opened in 12th place earning $2.66 million in 382 theaters for an average of $6,967. Starred Up was right behind with an average $6,781 in two theaters. Kundo: Age of the Rampant did okay with an average of $4,316 in 28 theaters. Last Weekend struggled with $3,492 in one theater, Canopy earned $3,042, also in one theater. Life of Crime is playing on Video on Demand, so its theatrical numbers are not as important. That said, an average of $2,819 in 37 theaters is still not a good start. Likewise, The Congress was even weaker with an average of $2,545 in 15 theaters. The Notebook barely avoided Mendoza Line with an average of $2,097 in two theaters. Raja Natwarlal wasn't as lucky with an average of $1,146 in 73.
This past week also saw milestones reached for several Per Theater Chart alumni:
