DVD and Blu-ray Releases for December 8th, 2009

December 8th, 2009

According to Amazon, there are about 300 DVDs and Blu-ray being released or re-released this week and about half of them are Harry Potter releases. Well, maybe not, but it almost feels that way. The only one of these that is really worth picking up is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Blu-ray; in fact, it is the DVD Pick of the Week. Also sharing that honor is The Cove on DVD, Julie & Julia on DVD or Blu-ray, and Lost - Season Five on Blu-ray. My bank account is going to take a big hit this week. More...

X Marks the Top of the Per Theater Chart

May 5th, 2009

There was only one film to top $10,000 on the per theater charts; in fact, there was only one film that care reasonably close. Wolverine was that one film as it topped both the per theater chart and the overall chart with an average of $20,751 in more than 4000 theaters. Second place went to Three Monkeys with $8,818 in just one theater. More...

Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of May 1st, 2009

May 2nd, 2009

Looking like a bad week for websites with none of them rising above average. That is till we get to the last website on this week's list, X-Men Origins - Wolverine's Official Site, which is the best of the week, and the winner of the Weekly Website Award. More...

It Would Take an Act of God to Stop Limited Releases

May 1st, 2009

A very weak list of limited releases this week. Of the six films, three are documentaries, four are earning poor to terrible reviews, and the other two have two reviews, combined. None really have a shot at expanding wide. The Canadian documentary Act of God is likely the best bet in terms of quality, but 90% of the people reading this live in the wrong country to see it.
