Synopsis

An eventful day at a convenience store along Detroit’s Six Mile road owned by conservative widower Earl Jenkins along with his son Gerard and daughter Gail. Neither shares his enthusiasm for running the family business. Gerard wants to escape Motown for the Big Apple to become a famous chef, while Gail seems to only care about partying. Gerard's best friend Derrick is ducking the neighborhood gangster Nazario and his henchman Beto over gambling debts. KJ plays the slacker son of the neighboring Asian storeowner and forms the third member of a trio with Gerard and Derrick. Three winos that hang outside the store function as a Greek chorus commenting on everyone coming and going. The precocious Mykell narrates the tale and adds to Gerard’s predicament. On the hottest day of the summer, a LOT can happen on the corner.
