Home Market Releases for December 29th, 2015

Bone Tomahawk

Another slow week on the home market, but not one without some top-notch releases. Blood And Black Lace on Blu-ray, I Believe in Unicorns on DVD, Shameless: Season 5 are all excellent. However, Bone Tomahawk on Blu-ray is the clear choice for Pick of the Week. More...

2015 - Holiday Gift Guide - Part III - Limited Releases, Foreign Films, Classics, and Canadian Films

December 13th, 2015

The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki

The third installment of the Holiday Gift Guide focuses on smaller releases, movies that opened in limited release, foreign films, classics getting new releases, and a few Canadian films. This year the list looks different to the previous guides for a simple reason. While there were only eight releases on the TV on DVD installment of the holiday gift guide, the first pass had more than 30 films on this list. So let's not delay anymore and get to the list, starting with the biggest release... More...

2015 - Awards Season: Independent Spirit Awards - Nominations

November 25th, 2015

Carol

Awards Season begins with the Independent Spirit Awards nominations. There were definitely some surprise nominees this year, but that also meant there were some unfortunate snubs as well. The overall leader was Carol, which just opened this past weekend. This is great timing and should help its box office numbers, as well as its chances throughout Awards Season. Its six nominations were one ahead of Beasts of No Nation and Spotlight. (One of Spotlight's was the Robert Altman Award, which has no nominations, just one winner.)

Limited and VOD Releases: Vote for the Best Limited Release

October 23rd, 2015

Suffragette

There's quite a few strong limited releases on this week's list, including Suffragette, which is earning by far the loudest buzz. Its reviews are good, but not great. On the other hand, Difret's reviews are great, but it has far less mainstream appeal. Bone Tomahawk has the potential to become a cult favorite, but it is playing on Video on Demand, so it likely won't make an impact at the box office. More...
