Daily Box Office Tracking: Endgame Has One Last Record Debut
April 30, 2019
Avengers: Endgame ended its international tour opening in Russia with $7.8 million, which is the highest opening day in that market. It is also 59% higher than Avengers: Infinity War’s debut last year. As impressive as this opening is, it is far from the only impressive aspect of Endgame’s Monday box office.
Domestically, Avengers: Endgame earned $36.7 million, which is not the record for a Monday. In fact, the film only managed third place on that chart. However, the number one film, Black Panther, opened on Presidents Day long weekend, while the number two film, The Force Awakens, opened at the beginning of the Christmas break. Therefore, Endgame did earn the biggest box office for a non-Holiday Monday. It also lifted its running tally to $393.82 million, making it the eighth biggest hit in the M.C.U. and the 35th biggest domestic hit of all time.
Internationally, the movie pulled in $82.2 million for a total of $948.7 million after just six days of release. It also entered the top ten on the International All-time Chart earning ninth place, just ahead of The Avengers and Age of Ultron. The film is now in tenth place on the worldwide chart with $1.34 billion, putting it just ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. Unsurprisingly, China remains the film’s biggest international market with $349.1 million so far, including $18.6 million on Monday.
There’s more news to report, as Avengers: Endgame’s Monday numbers pushed Disney’s box office numbers past $1 billion domestically, while it crossed $2 billion internationally and $3 billion worldwide over the weekend. More major milestones will fall today, as M.C.U.’s worldwide total is set to top $20 billion.
