Per Theater Chart: Welcome to the Age of Ultron
May 7, 2015
The Avengers: Age of Ultron not only earned first place on the overall box office chart, but it also topped the per theater chart with an average of $44,731. There were a couple of limited releases in the $10,000 club, Welcome to Me with an average of $19,084 in two theaters and Far from the Madding Crowd with an average of $16,499 in ten theaters. Iris came really close with an average of $9,542 in six theaters over the weekend and an average of $11,467 from Wednesday through Sunday.
The rest of the new releases had mixed results. Gabbar is Back earned an average of $2,583 in just over 100 theaters. Bollywood films are hard to judge when it comes to the box office, as they make a ton more in India than they do here. Gerontophilia just missed the Mendoza Line with $1,927 in its lone theater. It is a Canadian film, so it likely pulled in more money north of the border. Marie's Story opened with $1,446, also in one theater.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
