Twilight Saga: Eclipse to Open in 4,416 Theaters
June 29, 2010
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will open in 4,416 theaters on Wednesday -- the all-time widest opening for a movie, Summit announced on Tuesday morning.
A Twilight/New Moon double-header will play in 2,037 theaters for one night only on Tuesday evening.
The massive Wednesday opening has the movie playing in 10% more theaters than New Moon opened with last year.
However, the previous movie in the franchise opened on a Friday, which will make it hard for Eclipse to deliver a record opening day.
The $72,703,754 record set by New Moon will most likely remain untouched, but a $50 million first day seems assured.
