DVD and Blu-ray Releases for October 18th, 2011

October 18th, 2011

It should be a relatively good week in terms of DVD and Blu-ray sales with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides leading the way. However, it's not a particularly deep week in terms of home market releases. Nor is it really strong when it comes to contenders for Pick of the Week. Degrassi: Season Ten is in competition, but in the end I went with Robotech: The Complete Series. More...

Featured Blu-ray Review: MGM Horror Releases

October 13th, 2011

Exactly one month ago, MGM and Fox teamed up and released five horror films on Blu-ray. Okay, four horror films and Robocop 2. MGM has been releasing a lot of their old catalog titles, but will these stand out? Or are these lesser entrants in the massive film library MGM has built up over the years? More...

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for September 13th, 2011

September 13th, 2011

It is an incredibly busy week on the home market with several major releases, including Thor on Blu-ray, as well as Star Wars The Complete Saga, which comes out this Friday. Unfortunately, neither of the screeners have arrived yet, so it is hard to tell if they are pick of the week material. I figured Star Wars would easily take that honor, but the changes made have pissed off enough people that I think it's best that I hold off making a judgment till after it arrives. After spending way too long trying to pick between the two, I'm going with Degrassi: Season Ten, Part Two instead. More...

Featured Blu-ray Review: RoboCop Trilogy

October 21st, 2010

The RoboCop trilogy started in 1987 and while it was never a huge box office player, the first film did win over a number of critics. In the 23 years since then, there have been two sequels, TV show, comics, video games, plus a lot of recent talk about a reboot. But when it comes to this Blu-ray, it is a question of whether or not the franchise has aged well enough to be worth picking up. More...
