A note on Van Helsing's budget

We have seen several budget numbers quoted for Van Helsing. As best we can tell, the movie was originally budgeted at $148 million. Cost over-runs during production pushed that figure up to $160 million. Then Universal decided to move the release date for the movie forward to the beginning of May, after Spider-Man 2 was moved to July. They needed an extra $10 million to complete the movie in time, pushing the final production budget to $170 million.
