Sources of Information
The Numbers relies on a variety of sources to construct its charts and historical data.
While we can't guarantee perfection, we do everything we can to make sure that we have
the most comprehensive charts available on the web.
Primary Sources
Studios and Distributors send us daily, weekend, weekly and theater count information, along with
cast details, plot synopses and other information about movies.
If you're a distributor and want us to track your movies, simply email the numbers
to bodata @the-numbers.com.
We generally post them within 24 hours.
We can take daily, weekend and weekly numbers (broken down by theater would be fine too).
We create a page at the site for every movie released in the United States, and we're
happy to include artwork, cast information and plot synopses if you supply them to us.
We can also help promote your movie through our banner ads and newsletter, and we
will also review movies in our news section.
For more information contact promotions @the-numbers.com.
Movie theaters can also send us data for inclusion in the charts.
We're particularly keen to get data from theaters that aren't tracked by Nielsen/EDI and
for movies that aren't generally tracked (The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a good
example).
Again, bodata @the-numbers.com is the place to send the information.
Readers like you have contributed thousands of snippets of information and corrections.
If you have something you'd like to send us, bodata @the-numbers.com works best.
Secondary Sources
We use Variety.com, The Hollywood
Reporter and Screen International as the definitive sources for
movie budget information when we do not receive that information directly from the studio.
