Ron Howard

About Ron Howard

It is very unusual for a former child star to be successful as a grown up as well. Ron Howard is such an exception. When he was still very young he starred as Opie in The Andy Griffith Show, followed by his role as Richie Cunningham in Happy Days. Soon afterwards he almost quit acting completely and started to direct. First a couple of television movies, but soon box office hits such as Splash and Cocoon. Throughout the eighties and nineties he continued making succesful movies with a best effort A Beautiful Mind that won him a well-deserved Best Director Oscar. Ron Howard often gives his father Rance Howard and his brother Clint Howard small roles in his movies.
