Synopsis

Anne Keyes is an attractive young woman who is enjoying modest success as a film actress; she's also the adopted daughter of Alexander Keyes, a career politician and Member of Parliament. Anne still lives in the family home with her father, mother Maud, budding diplomat brother Ralph and socialite sister Celia. One night, Hector, one of Alexander's friends, stops by for dinner and during a heated conversation makes no secret of his disapproval of prime minister Neville Chamberlain and his efforts to appease Hitler's Nazi regime. Later that evening, Hector is found dead of an apparent suicide. Anne, however, begins to suspect foul play when she finds a set of phonograph records that document conversations of men discussing state intelligence secrets. When Anne ties to share this discovery with others, they're soon found dead as well.

There are a few other smaller releases, as well as catalog titles, etc., The biggest release of the week is also arguably the best, Unstoppable on Blu-ray. And while the release date is bizarre, Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol on Blu-ray is also worth picking up. Also of note is Despicable Me, which came out a couple months ago, but the Blu-ray Combo Pack just arrived last week. More...

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Glorious 39

February 12th, 2011

Glorious 39 is a British film that was shot in 2008 and came out in its native market in 2009. It was written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff, who for the past decade has done mostly TV movies. He has excelled in that field, earning several nominations and a couple awards. But with Glorious 39, he has his first theatrical release since Food of Love. Is it a triumphant return? Or is his talent better suited to the small screen? More...
